Close-up of a Snowy Egret – Sanibel, Florida

January 31, 2014

One of the secrets of wildlife and bird photography is to let the subject to approach you. Fortunately, it is very easy to accomplish in Florida. Here is a portrait of a Snowy Egret that I was able to photograph at a very short distance at Sanibel, Florida:

Florida Bird Photography - Profile photograph of a Snowy Egret at Sanibel, Beach, Florida - Canon 7D 70-200mm 2.8 IS mark II 1.4x teleconverter

Photograph captured with a Canon 7D camera and 70-200mm 2.8 IS II lens + 1.4xextender II – for larger view and EXIF data, please click on the image

There were moments that this bird walked by me so close that my camera was unable to focus. Here in New Jersey, I barely, if ever, had a chance to photograph any egret or heron at such a short distance. Ahh, the magic of sunshine state… 🙂
