Summer Project – Shorebirds in New Jersey

July 28, 2010

I just want to share with you couple of pictures from my latest project I’ve been working on for past weeks.
It all started with the first sight of these guys:

Least Tern - chick ©Greg Gard 2010 - greggard.zenfolio.com - Canon EOS 7D, 400mm F5.6, ISO 200, 1/2500s, f/6.3 AV mode, exposure compensation + 2/3. Tripod mounted. Cropped Frame.

Once in a while there was a running competition on the beach. Here is the winner for the fastest run 🙂

Piping Plover chick ©Greg Gard 2010 - greggard.zenfolio.com - Canon EOS 7D, 400mm F5.6, ISO 400, 1/640s, f/6.3 AV mode, exposure compensation + 1/3. Tripod mounted. Cropped Frame.

Competition was judged mostly by adults:

and strictly patrolled from the air:
